Internship abroad Germany / Düsseldorf

Bonjour Lucas, you are one of our interns in the INTERNational internship program within the Baker Tilly network this year. In the past months you completed an internship at Baker Tilly STREGO in France. Tell us about it!

I did a three-month internship from April 2022 to the end of June 2022. Afterwards I worked from July 2022 until June 2023 as a Data-controller at Baker Tilly in France in the accounting department as well as the management control department. I supported these two divisions for tax reporting, accounting registration and activity monitoring missions.

You participated in our intercultural training by the global office of Baker Tilly together with all the other interns of the program for intercultural preparation. Could you share more details about the training? What did you enjoy the most about the training?

This was a great course with many learnings about different cultures. However, it only helped me to a limited extent since Germany and France are culturally quite similar. Except for the food of course :) !

On 1st July you started your international experience with us in Germany in the office in Düsseldorf. Have you ever been to Germany before and what are you the most excited about?

I never have been to Germany before. Professionally, I really enjoy working with the transaction services team that is offering me the opportunity to learn a lot and to outgrowing myself. I am looking forward to get to know Düsseldorf as a city and to explore all the beautiful corners.

For three months you'll support our transaction services and audit team. In which tasks and in what kind of client work have you been involved so far?

I was able to prepare a pitch deck, carry out financial analysis, financial due diligence tasks, prepare PowerPoint presentations on IFRS 16 and understand the pricing system. This enabled me to improve my Excel and PowerPoint skills and to have an insights into the daily work of a Transaction Services and Audit team.

Do you have specific learning objectives for your internship?

My aim is to learn and see as much as possible so that I have a better chance of getting a good placement for my Master studies. At the same time, I'm studying for the TAGE and TOIEC exams so that I can apply to business schools for my master's degree.

Thank you, Lucas!
