Researching companies can benefit from the increase in the research allowance from 28 March 2024.

In addition to a general overview, our new overworked brochure “Research Allowance Act”
focuses on the expansion and improvement of the research allowance under the Growth Opportunities Act:

  • Increase in the assessment basis for eligible expenditure from EUR 4 million to EUR 10 million per year
  • First time pro-rata acquisition and production costs for plant and equipment required in R&D projects are eligible for funding
  • Increase in the funding rate from 25% to 35% for SMEs
  • Increase in the annual research allowance to a maximum of EUR 3.5 million for SMEs and EUR 2.5 million for large companies
  • Additional liquidity benefits by reducing advance payments on income and corporation income tax

As you would expect from an interdisciplinary consultancy such as Baker Tilly, we will advise you not only during the application process, but also, for example, in the run-up to the application on issues relating to contract research within company groups. This ensures that an application for a research allowance is successful.
