Successful asset deal in the insolvency proceedings of the m-tec Group

Insolvency administrator Dr. Alexander Fridgen was able to sell the majority of the business operations of m-tec to Opta Group LLC, a global metallurgical additive company. The location in Wesel and a large proportion of jobs will continue to operate as a result.

Munich, August 5, 2025 – The insolvency proceedings concerning the assets of the m-tec Group (m-tec industrial engineering GmbH, m-tec powder GmbH, m-tec wire GmbH) have made an important milestone reached: The insolvency administrator Dr. Alexander Fridgen deals to the chemical and metals company Opta Group LLC. The creditors' committee has already approved the sale. 

The Opta Group and its subsidiary Affival SAS, which specialises in cored wire, acquire m-tec's customer and supply relationships, a large part of the company's employees production and administrative functions at the Wesel site, as well as the vast majority of other contracts. 

Insolvency administrator Dr. Alexander Fridgen, lawyer and partner at the international consulting and auditing firm Baker Tilly says: "The asset deal concluded in July with Opta and Affival is good news for the creditors, the m-tec site in Wesel and many others. Employees in the magnesium division and in administration. We are thus achieving an important milestone in the three ongoing insolvency proceedings of the m-tec Group." 

The m-tec Group, headquartered in Töging am Inn in Upper Bavaria, was a company specializing in metal chemistry. It generated an annual turnover of around 33 million euros, but got into economic difficulties in the first half of 2025. The District Court on March 31, 2025, Mühldorf am Inn had initiated preliminary insolvency proceedings over the assets m-tec powder GmbH, which specializes in magnesium powder, and m-tec industrial engineering GmbH. On June 2, m-tec wire GmbH followed.
