The new edition of Baker Tilly’s Employment and Labour Laws Newsletter examines redundancies, restructurings, and recent employment law developments across Europe.
Baker Tilly’s International Employment Law Practice Group has published the second edition of its Employment and Labour Laws Newsletter. The focus is on the growing employment law challenges associated with international restructurings, as well as recent developments in various European jurisdictions.
The issue specifically analyzes the different legal approaches to redundancies and restructuring measures across Europe. Contributions from Germany, France, Belgium, Spain, and the United Kingdom (from the previous edition) are supplemented by perspectives from Austria, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, and Switzerland. The publication compares topics such as consultation requirements, social selection criteria, burdens of proof, severance arrangements, and procedural risks.
The issue also includes international comparison tables covering notice periods and severance payments, as well as an analysis of the “Employer of Record” model in Poland, the legal admissibility of which is increasingly the subject of critical debate.
In addition, the newsletter provides updates on current employment law developments across Europe. Topics include the fundamental changes to the calculation of length of service under Polish employment law and the current practice of the French rupture conventionnelle, including cost updates for 2026.
