FUNKE acquires Chefkoch GmbH – Baker Tilly advises on the Transaction

Baker Tilly provided comprehensive advisory services to the FUNKE Media Group in its acquisition of Chefkoch GmbH from RTL Deutschland.

The international consulting and auditing firm Baker Tilly advised the FUNKE Media Group on the acquisition of Chefkoch GmbH. A multidisciplinary team led by partner Nils Klamar was responsible for the Financial Due Diligence and Tax Due Diligence for the media company.

FUNKE is acquiring Chefkoch from the publishing house Gruner + Jahr, which operates under the umbrella of RTL Deutschland. With the acquisition of the leading food portal, FUNKE Media Group is strengthening its digital portfolio and its position in the food segment.

The transaction includes the Chefkoch brand, the portal kochbar.de, and the approximately 100-member team of Chefkoch GmbH. The Chefkoch headquarters in Bonn will become an additional location on FUNKE’s Germany map.
