New Partner in Hamburg with Big Four experience, focusing on International Tax and Transactions

The international consulting and audit firm Baker Tilly has welcomed Fabian Maerz as a Partner in its Tax practice, effective 1 February 2026. With his addition, Baker Tilly is further expanding its advisory capabilities in international tax law, structuring and transactions while continuing to strengthen its boutique‑style consulting approach.

“Fabian Maerz combines tax expertise with strong entrepreneurial insight and extensive governance experience. He will significantly enhance our advisory offering in international tax structures and M&A transactions and create real value for our internationally active clients. He also brings an excellent network that extends well beyond the Hamburg region,” says Oliver Hubertus, Managing Partner Tax at Baker Tilly.

Maerz is a qualified lawyer and certified tax advisor. He began his career in 2006 at EY in Munich, advising clients ranging from upper mid‑market companies to DAX‑listed groups. He also gained international experience through his work at EY’s German Tax Desk in New York. From 2013 to 2025, Maerz worked at the Otto Krahn Group in Hamburg, most recently as Head of Corporate Governance, where he was responsible for Tax, Legal, Compliance, Internal Control System (ICS), Internal Audit and Risk Management, and served on the management boards of two operating subsidiaries.

Together with Hamburg Partners Christian Hensell and Matthias Chuchra, Fabian Maerz will drive the further expansion of Baker Tilly’s tax advisory services in Northern Germany.
