The initiatives supported provide care and assistance to children and families in challenging circumstances, make special wishes come true for seriously ill people, and bring people together through shared experiences.

These five projects will each receive €2,500 in funding:

Bereavement Support for Children in Munich
The Nicolaidis YoungWings Foundation supports children between the ages of six and twelve who have lost a parent or close family member. Bereavement groups provide them with a safe space to express their feelings and develop ways of coping with their grief. The groups are led by two experienced professionals. Creative activities complement the group sessions, helping to build the children’s resilience while also providing support and relief for their families.

TransDia-Sport Deutschland e. V.
TransDia-Sport Deutschland e. V. enables children, young people and adults who have undergone a transplant or are receiving dialysis treatment to take part in sporting events. Its nationwide activities cater to different age groups and levels of ability. Shared sporting experiences help improve physical fitness while bringing people together. At the same time, the association raises awareness of organ donation.

A Playground Oasis for Young Children in Dortmund
Katholische Jugendhilfe Dortmund is renovating the playground at its Oesterholzstraße location. The playground is used primarily by children and parents participating in the organisation’s mother-, father- and child-support programmes. Outdated and damaged play equipment will be replaced to create a safe space for children to play and families to connect. Additional funding is still needed for a sand play area and a parent-child swing. The funding will promote physical activity, child development and shared play, while also providing relief for parents facing challenging life circumstances.

Mütter in Not e. V. in Regensburg
Since 1993, Mütter in Not e. V. has supported single parents, families and children in the city and district of Regensburg. Run by volunteers, the association provides practical support through donated goods, interest-free loans and referrals to counselling services and public authorities. Funded entirely through private donations, its work helps families overcome acute financial hardship and empowers them to regain stability and help themselves.

ASB-Wünschewagen in Bavaria
The ASB-Wünschewagen initiative grants final heartfelt wishes to seriously ill children and adults. Whether it is a trip to the seaside, a visit to a stadium or a day on a farm, these journeys create special experiences away from the challenges of everyday life with serious illness. In Bavaria, the Wünschewagen vehicles operate in the regions of Allgäu/Swabia, Franconia/Upper Palatinate and Munich/Upper Bavaria.
