Dr. Theofanis Tacou, LL.M., joined Baker Tilly in Hamburg as a partner on March 1. His practice focuses on employment and compensation law as well as the maritime industry.

The international consulting and auditing firm Baker Tilly is expanding its labor law practice group with Dr. Theofanis Tacou, LL.M. The lawyer has been working as a partner in the Hamburg office since March 1, 2026.

Dr. Tacou is a specialist lawyer for labor law and comes from ADVANT Beiten in Hamburg, where he was also a partner. He has many years of comprehensive expertise in labor and remuneration law, in contentious and out-of-court disputes, in providing labor law support for restructuring processes, and in the maritime industry. His clients include companies in both the private and public sectors.

“We are expanding our labor law practice group with another experienced, internationally experienced lawyer and partner: With Dr. Theofanis Tacou, we have gained a proven expert in labor law who also has extensive industry knowledge in the financial services sector and experience in multidisciplinary collaboration,” says Dr. Thomas Gemmeke, Managing Partner at Baker Tilly.

In addition to his network in the maritime industry, Dr. Tacou advises banks, capital management companies, and securities institutions in particular, e.g., on the implementation of remuneration systems in accordance with labor and supervisory law, the identification of so-called risk carriers, and other supervisory, compliance, and labor law issues. He is admitted to the bar in both Germany and Greece.

“Together with my team in Hamburg, I have been providing comprehensive advice to companies – particularly in northern Germany – on individual and collective labor law for more than twelve years. Our clients in the financial services sector and the maritime industry in particular will benefit from seamless cooperation between lawyers, tax advisors, and auditors at Baker Tilly in the future,” says Dr. Theofanis Tacou.

Dr. Tacou brings another lawyer with him. Baker Tilly's labor law practice group now consists of a total of twelve lawyers in Frankfurt, Munich, Stuttgart, and Hamburg. It is headed by Frankfurt-based partner Kerstin Weckert, who has also been co-lead of Baker Tilly International's Employment Law Practice Group since last July.
