Baker Tilly expands Real Estate and Financing Consulting with new Partner Bernhard Gemmel

Baker Tilly expands its real estate and financing advisory services and wins attorney-at-law Bernhard Gemmel as a new partner for the Frankfurt office.

Gemmel specializes in advising national and international clients on real estate financing as well as project finance and acquisition finance in the corporate and private equity sectors and with regard to the energy sector. In the area of real estate financing, he also advises his clients on the structuring of their projects.

Gemmel is both a German and French fully qualified lawyer. Previously, he worked as a partner at the law firm Dentons (and its predecessor Salans) for more than ten years. Together with him, his long-standing team member Ceren Uzun also joins Baker Tilly as a Director. Together with the colleagues already working at Baker Tilly, a team of three experienced professionals and a foreign language assistant will be available to clients in the area of financing from now on.

“With Bernhard Gemmel, we are not only expanding our Frankfurt Baker Tilly Legal team; his real estate financing expertise will also enhance our Real Estate advisory portfolio," comments Dr. Thomas Gemmeke, Attorney-at-Law and Managing Partner Legal at Baker Tilly: “Together with the existing services in the areas of construction and architectural law, notarial services, transactions, real estate business law and public procurement law, we can thus provide legal support for all key process steps in a property’s life cycle. At the same time, we are also deepening our financing practice beyond real estate in the areas of M&A/private equity and (renewable) energies.”

Gemmel has more than 20 years of experience in advising national and international clients in the real estate and financing sector, with positions at several leading international and national law firms. He started his career in the US law firm Shearman & Sterling’s Frankfurt office, where he worked as an associate and also partner for more than eight years. In addition to his work as an attorney-at-law, Gemmel teaches C-level executives the legal basics of real estate finance at IE Business School (Madrid) as part of the Global Master Real Estate Development Program’s (GMRED) degree course. Gemmel advises in German, French and English.
