Baker Tilly has won Dr Raphael Won-Pil Suh as partner for its Munich office. Dr Suh will establish and lead the new Korea Desk at Baker Tilly.

In addition, as a specialist lawyer for commercial and corporate law, Dr Suh will work on national and cross-border transactions and thus further strengthen Baker Tilly's Munich office.

“With the establishment of a Korea Desk, we are responding to the increasing demand of South Korean companies for advice on German and European law,” says Dr Thomas Gemmeke, Managing Partner Legal at Baker Tilly: “With Dr Suh, we now have an excellent lawyer on board who can perfectly accompany South Korean companies in Germany and Europe, but also advice German companies in South Korea.”

Before joining Baker Tilly, Dr Suh worked at Dentons for six years and before that at Norton Rose Fulbright for eight years. At both firms, his focus was on corporate/M&A and compliance, particularly advising South Korean clients. He is also “Regional Governor for Germany” at the International Association of Korean Lawyers (IAKL).

“I am very pleased to be able to bring in my legal expertise as well as my linguistic and cultural South Korean background at Baker Tilly,” says new Baker Tilly partner Dr Suh. “The foundation for this has already been made with several projects. Now it's a matter of further developing the relationship between Korea and Europe and leveraging our expertise in international transactions.”

In addition to the new Korea Desk, Baker Tilly already has a China Desk, a Nordic Desk, a Baltic Desk and a US Tax Desk in Germany. “Further desks are being planned to be able to advise our clients even better on cross-border affairs,” reports Dr Gemmeke.
