Baker Tilly establishes Nordic Desk with corporate lawyer Dr. Ralf Ek

With effect from January 1, 2021, Baker Tilly expands its team in the Frankfurt office with its new partner Dr. Ralf Ek, LL.M. (53), a corporate and M&A lawyer who is going to build up Baker Tilly’s new Nordic Desk.

Dr. Ralf Ek mainly advises stock corporations on all relevant issues of corporate and capital market law, in particular on the organization of annual shareholders’ meetings, on prevention strategies relating to liabilities of management and supervisory boards as well as on compliance issues and internal investigations. He also advises on M&A transactions, including cross-border transactions, with a special focus on investments of Nordic companies in Germany and on investments of German companies in the Nordic region.

„Corporate law related consulting has been a significant growth driver in Baker Tilly’s legal consulting services in recent years. We are convinced that Ralf’s start with Baker Tilly and the establishment of a Nordic Desk will make us even more attractive for Nordic enterprises in connection with corporate transactions and other major projects in Germany as well as for German enterprises in connection with projects in the Nordic countries,” comments Dr. Thomas Gemmeke, partner at Baker Tilly and the management board member responsible for legal consulting. “We are also very happy completing our consulting service portfolio in particular in connection with legal issues for listed corporations as well as the strategic consulting of corporate bodies with Ralf.”

Ralf started his career in 1995 in Hamburg with Schön Nolte Finkelnburg & Clemm and, after two years, then joined Hölters & Elsing (first in Berlin, then in Frankfurt). Since 2008, Ralf has been working in the Frankfurt office of Jones Day and headed its Nordic Practice. He is the author of several corporate law book publications on liability risks for members of management and supervisory boards of German stock corporations and managing directors of German GmbHs as well as on shareholders’ meetings. He is also a frequent speaker on corporate law topics.
